Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

1. 1

   You must have completed a program at a PGWP-eligible DLI that was at least 8 months long (or 900 hours for Quebec programs).

   You must have maintained full-time student status each semester (part-time allowed in the final semester).

   You must apply within 180 days of confirmation you completed your program, and your study permit must have been valid at some point in those 180 days.

   Most applicants must prove language skills — e.g. CLB/NCLC 5 in all 4 abilities for college/non-university programs (requirements vary by program type; in effect since Nov 1, 2024).

   If you applied for your study permit on or after Nov 1, 2024, you must have graduated in an eligible field of study (linked to long-term shortage occupations).
