Express Entry

Canada's online system for managing permanent-residence applications under three federal programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System)

The points-based system used to score and rank Express Entry profiles in the pool. Points come from age, education, language ability, work experience, and other factors.

CLB (Canadian Language Benchmark)

The national standard used to describe English-language ability for immigration. Approved test scores (IELTS, CELPIP, PTE Core) convert to a CLB level.

PNP (Provincial Nominee Program)

A program under which Canadian provinces and territories nominate people who meet their local labour-market needs for permanent residence. A nomination adds 600 CRS points in the Express Entry-linked stream.
